How We Get Your SMS Consent

Last Updated: May 4, 2026

When you call Landmark Machinery, LLC for parts or service support, our representatives may offer to text you parts identification photographs and troubleshooting information for your specific equipment issue. We only send text messages to customers who have given us explicit verbal consent during the call, and we follow a structured process every time to make sure you understand what you are agreeing to.

This page describes that consent process in detail.

Who Receives Our SMS Messages

We send SMS and MMS text messages only to customers who:

  • Contact our parts or service department first, typically by phone.
  • Are dealing with a specific equipment service issue (commonly broken-down equipment at a remote job site).
  • Provide explicit verbal consent during the call.

Our customers include U.S. Forest Service personnel, commercial logging operators, agricultural and heavy-equipment operators, and other field-based equipment users who need help identifying replacement parts to make repairs in the field.

The Opt-In is Customer-Initiated

This messaging program is initiated by you, the customer. We do not send unsolicited text messages. You contact us first — typically because your equipment has broken down at a job site — and during that call, you may request or agree to receive parts identification photographs and related troubleshooting information by text message.

What Our Representative Will Tell You

Before any text message is sent to you, our representative will read the following script aloud during the call:

"Before I text you, I need to confirm a few things. I'll be sending parts photos and troubleshooting info to your cell phone for this service issue. Standard message and data rates from your carrier may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to stop the messages, or HELP if you need assistance. Our text terms and privacy policy are posted at landmarkmachinery.com. Is the cell number you want me to text [your number], and are you okay with us texting you about this?"

The representative will:

  1. Tell you what kind of messages we will send (parts photos and troubleshooting information).
  2. Tell you that standard message and data rates from your wireless carrier may apply.
  3. Tell you about the STOP keyword to opt out and the HELP keyword for assistance.
  4. Reference our Privacy Policy and SMS Terms and Conditions (links below).
  5. Read your mobile number back to you to confirm.
  6. Wait for your clear verbal "yes" before sending anything.

How We Document Your Consent

After you give your verbal consent, our representative records the following in our internal customer service application:

  • The date and time of the call.
  • Your name and organization.
  • The mobile telephone number you confirmed.
  • The representative who took your call.
  • An attestation that each of the disclosures above was made.
  • An attestation that you verbally agreed.

Only after these attestations are recorded does our system permit any text message to be sent to your number. This consent log is retained as part of our customer service records.

What Messages We Send

Messages are limited to the specific equipment service issue you contacted us about. They typically include:

  • Photographs of replacement parts to help you identify what you need.
  • Troubleshooting information for your specific equipment.
  • Follow-up questions or clarifications related to your service issue.

We do not use this messaging program for marketing or promotional purposes. Message frequency varies based on the nature and duration of your service issue.

Standard message and data rates from your wireless carrier may apply. Landmark Machinery does not charge customers to send or receive these messages.

Stopping Messages

You can stop receiving text messages from us at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from us. After we receive your STOP request:

  • We will send one final confirmation message acknowledging the opt-out.
  • We will not send you any further text messages.
  • Your opt-out is recorded in our customer service system.
  • If you contact us again later and want to receive texts about a future service issue, you will need to provide verbal consent again through the same process.

For assistance, reply HELP to any message or contact us using the information at the bottom of this page.

Privacy and Mobile Information Sharing

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All categories of information collected through our SMS messaging program — including mobile telephone numbers, text messaging originator opt-in data, and consent records — will not be shared with any third parties for marketing or promotional purposes, will not be sold, and will not be transferred to affiliates or business partners for marketing or promotional purposes.
